Budget 2024 Live: Sitharaman Announces The Fiscal Deficit Target

The fiscal deficit target for the current fiscal year ending March 2024 is 5.8 percent of GDP, lower than the 6.4 percent in the last fiscal. She says the government has managed to contain the fiscal slippage despite the challenges posed by the Covid 19 pandemic and subsequent lockdowns. She adds the government is committed to the fiscal consolidation path and aims to  bring down the fiscal deficit to 4.5 percent of GDP by 2025-26.
